How to install and calibrate the scope correctly?

Fitting an optical sight on a rifle is a prerequisite for accurate and stable shooting. This operation requires attention and precision, but also a few tips on how to do it correctly.

1. Determining the horizon of the rifle barrel
The horizon of the rifle can be set by using a “swivel” or Weaver/Picatinny bar located on the upper part of the rifle's chamber. For this purpose, compact construction planes, smartphones or special kits for mounting optics are suitable. Usually, the kit consists of two elements: one for selecting the weapon's sight and the other for positioning the sight. Before use, it is worth checking and, if necessary, calibrating these levels.

2. Fitting the clamp
The clamp is attached to the rings so that it can rotate on its axis. This allows the sight to be raised without damaging the cover. There are two ways of guiding the sight in the rings. The first is by means of a plane which is fixed to the end of the flywheel for vertical adjustment. The second method is suitable when the flywheel end has protruding parts.

3. Tightening the screws
The eyebolts must be tightened properly and in accordance with the chessboard pattern, according to the tightening torque recommended by the manufacturer. This will ensure the necessary correspondence between the horizon of the rifle and the vertical of the sight.

4. Fixing the alignment
A solution of alcohol in campol can be used to fix the clamp in the rings and applied to the inner surfaces of the rings. After drying, the kampol coating acts as a barrier to prevent the sight from shifting out of position.

5. Fixing the screws
A fixing screw designed for cars can be used to fix the eyebolts. This will ensure a proper fastening and prevent spontaneous loosening of the screw fastening.

To sum up

Correct installation and calibration of the optical sight is essential to ensure accurate shooting. Follow the recommendations given here to install the sight correctly and ensure its reliable operation.
